This is a video recipe showing you how to make incense with Frankincense resin.

It’s so simple! Once you know how to do it, you’ll want to make a lot of different varieties. There is something so sweet, earthy, and grounding about making loose incense like this.

I have a jar of loose Frankincense resin, and I’m making this blend in a small, beautiful bowl. I don’t actually measure the Frankincense resin itself—I just take a handful and put it in the bowl. (0:38) There’s no “exact amount” of resin you should use when you make incense with Frankincense resin, so go with whatever you like.

Then I’m adding 1 teaspoon of Rosemary powder. (1:02) I do measure the powders that I use when I make incense with Frankincense resin. It is not important to only use 1 teaspoon, but it feels like the right amount to me.

And last but not least, I’m adding 10 drops of Pinion Pine essential oil. (1:47) (Pinion Pine is also spelled Pinon Pine or Piñon Pine.) You don’t have to add essential oil when you make incense with Frankincense resin, but I love to! I especially enjoy the aromas of the piney, woodsy conifer oils blended with the Frankincense resin. But you can use any essential oil you like.

Just wait till you burn this—it is beautiful and smoky, and fills the house with gorgeous aroma!

Adding the essential oil helps the incense fill the house with aroma even when you’re not burning it. To burn it, place a pinch of your incense on a tab of natural bamboo charcoal on a heat-safe surface.

If you make incense with Frankincense resin, I’d love to know how it goes! And I would also love it if you'd subscribe to my channel for more Aromatherapy recipes like this.

Why does incense play such a key role in so many medicinal and spiritual traditions around the world?

How does incense work to help us access deeper levels of wisdom and healing?

Can you tap into these properties of incense and enhance your essential oil practice?

I can answer the last question for you . . . YES! When you understand how to use incense and how to “listen” to it, you can bring new dimensions to your Aromatherapy practice. My friend Eric, owner of the Northwest School of Aromatic Medicine, can answer the first 2 questions and so much more!

The “Listening to Incense” Home Study Course is offered by the Northwest School of Aromatic Medicine. It can teach you how to use incense in traditional and modern ways, so you can bring nuance and wisdom to your Aromatherapy practice. You’ll have the opportunity to experience for yourself why so many people love incense, and how it can put us in touch with your own roots, your own wisdom, and your ability to connect with the world in meaningful ways. Learn more about the course here! aromahead.co/ListeningToIncense
