👉🏽 Is it better to have a higher base salary or big annual bonus?
If your compensation comprises a hefty annual bonus, I have bad news for you. Big annual bonus = golden handcuffs.

Golden handcuffs:
When you are beholden to your employer and will be compelled to stay at your job until bonus time, when you might otherwise quit.

Ask who benefits from your comp structure (salary, bonus, time off, 401k matching, and vacation time/PTO). If your comp is heavy on bonus (when bonus is 20% or more of your total take-home pay), this benefits your COMPANY, not YOU.
