Description from the creator

Understanding a drug's pharmacology requires knowing two key properties:
• Potency – how much drug is needed to produce an effect.
• Efficacy – the maximum effect a drug can produce once it binds to its receptor.
These properties are determined using concentration-response (or dose-response) curves. By measuring the response to a range of drug concentrations and plotting the results, we can determine important pharmacological parameters such as EC50 (or ED50) and maximum response (Emax).

In this video, you'll learn:
✅ How to construct concentration-response and dose-response curves
✅ How to convert data into log concentration-response curves
✅ How to identify and calculate EC50 (or ED50) values

📚 New Extended Version Available:
For viewers who want a deeper understanding, an extended version of this video is now available. It explains how concentration-response experiments are performed in the laboratory, how responses are measured, and how the resulting data are analysed to generate these curves.
