Describing how much compost I apply per acre on hay ground and how I do it using a manure spreader. Using a apron chain spreader I cover 1.3 acres per load, if the spreader is 1/3 rd full I get about 2.3 yards per cubic acre, 1500 lbs. as is per yard, 4500 lbs or 2.25 tons applied per acre as is of leaf compost. If I heap the spreader I get about 10 yards in it and going in 5th gear high range using the White 2-105, or 7th high on the Massey 2705 I will cover 1.3 acres before spreader is empty
