How to Study Social Science | Tips for Studying Social Science Effectively

Social Science is generally considered as one of the most boring subjects.
History, Geography, Political Science & Economics whichever may be your most favourite or least favourite.
You have to study every part & as exams are approaching you need to make a proper strategy to study each one of them.

In this video, I am going to give you some tips on how to study social science.

These are as follows :

1) Read the course once - Read the course once without trying to remember, just read like you read the newspaper & try to understand the story

2) Set priority in topics - Prioritize your subjects & topics according to marks weightage & easy & difficult chapters,
You can make this list by checking marking schemes from various websites or books. Use this list to create study schedule accordingly.

3) Make short notes - Take short notes or underline specific points you feel are important while studying. Doing this helps you to actively engage with the subject.

4) Make note of all the relevant dates -
Write all the important dates on a paper & keep looking at those dates often in every 2-3 days.
You will find that you are able to remember the dates easily.
Or
You can also stick that paper on your study table where you can read it every now & then.

5) Study other parts separately -
Study different parts of sst like history & civics separately rather than combining them together. So, that you won’t get confused in the exam.

6) Use flashcards -
You can use flashcards for remembering definitions & various historical events. Its a fun way of learning.

7) Practice map thoroughly -
Practice map by tracing locations you want to remember & then try locating them on a blank map.

8) Understand the story & incidents -
Don’t just start learning long questions instead first read it 2-3 times & try to understand it. So, you can frame it in your own words as well.

9) Give time to revision -
Social Science has lots of chapters. So, keep a few days in hand before exams for revision. Revision helps in remembering better.

10) Solve sample papers -
Solve previous year papers & sample papers to practice writing fast & within word limit.
It also helps you to identify important topics & give you an idea of how questions have been asked in the exams.

Lastly, I can say that study sst in fun way by trying to understand things like a story.
Don’t get afraid in the beginning if it seems harder, it gets easier once you start studying it properly.
