Constipation can be an uncomfortable and awkward condition. Everyone experiences constipation from time to time, but usually, it is short-term and not very serious. There are ways to help combat constipation, such taking Epsom salts as a laxative.

1. Buy the right Epsom salt. Make sure the type of Epsom salt you buy has magnesium sulfate as its main ingredient.

2. Warm some water. To begin an Epsom salt mixture for a laxative, warm eight ounces of water in a pot on the stove over medium heat. Don't let the water boil, but make sure it is warmer than room temperature.

3.Add the salt. Add one to four level teaspoons of Epsom salt to the warm water mixture if the mixture is for an adult. I would not recommend you to microwave the water.

4. Drink the mixture. Once you take it off the stove, set it aside in a mug or cup to cool. Allow the mixture to cool down to a comfortable and drinkable temperature

5. Drink only twice a day. This mixture is safe to use twice a day. Drink the doses at least 4 hours apart each day. You can continue drinking this mixture for up to 4 days. If after 4 days you haven’t had any bowel movement or if you still feel constipated, call your doctor for advice.

6.0Drink more water. While you are taking Epsom salt as a laxative, increase your water intake. The mixture can cause dehydration and you need to keep your water levels up in order to stay hydrated and healthy.
