How to Mount a Scope on a Sniper Rifle | Special Forces shooting Techniques | Tactical Rifleman
ChannelTactical RiflemanDescription from the creator
Everyone can stumble through mounting a scope. Most will tell you that it is not that hard. However, if you go step by step and follow this easy procedure, you will save time and also get it correct the first time. We often have novice shooters (and some experienced shooters) come out to the range with scopes that are not level or are improperly fitted to the individual shooter. This equates to poor performance on the range and an unhappy shooter.
If you take nothing else away from this video, I want you to remember “Eye Relief” and “Level Crosshairs.”
When you relax behind the gun and open your eyes to find that you are looking perfectly through the center of the scope, you have a gun stock that is fitted to you and your scope is fitted to you. That’s perfect “Eye Relief,” which equates to a rifle that will be comfortable to shoot, allowing you to get the most accuracy out of your precision rifle.
When your gun is canted, you are greatly throwing off the zero of the weapon. To prevent this, you need to level the gun before firing each shot. However, before you even go to the range, this starts with ensuring that your scope is level on the gun. “Level Crosshairs” paired with a good float level, greatly increases your odds of precisely leveling the gun; which then equates to precise shots.
Remember, the key to accurate shooting is “consistency.” That’s in everything. You can spend a ton of money of ammo that flies consistent and a gun that shoots consistent, but if you are not shooting it consistent; well, you aren’t going to be grouping very well at distance. A major part of that is sizing the gun to fit you comfortably and ensuring your crosshairs are level.
I hope this video helps some of you save time properly mounting your new scopes.
