Grand Master of Memory Mark Channon joins Will Barron on this episode of the Salesman Podcast to discuss how we can learn to remember customers faces, names and the little details that build massive rapport over time.
-- How To Remember Anything --
The show is kicked off with Mark explaining that all memory is creation. When you remember something you’re creating an image in your mind using your senses.
The more senses you can tie into the creation of that memory, the more likely you are going to be able to recall it further down the line.
“All memory is actually creation” – Mark Channon
Mark then shares his thoughts on the process of remembering someones face or name.
Being able to say “Hi name” to a potential customer that you meet at a conference or randomly at a business function builds huge rapport because it shows them that you have taken the time to remember their name on both a conscious and unconscious level.
“There’s more neurons dedicated to the visual system in the brain than any other sense.” – Mark Channon
The show is wrapped up with pointing out visualising what you want to remember is generally the easiest way to sink it deeper into your long term memory as that is simply how our brains are wired.
Guest info:
Mark Channon (London, UK) originally trained as an actor, before becoming one of the first 8 people in the world to become a Grand Master of Memory in the 1995 World Memory Championships.
He has worked as a trainer and coach for over 15 years, running seminars for organisations such as Rothschild, Lincoln National and the BBC in Memory, Mind Mapping and Creativity.
He is also a Product Manager for the BBC and has created several shows, including a memory gameshow.
