Description from the creator

If you produced a movie and are ready to sell it there are a few things you need to know before you can take it to market.

There are places around the world that you can sell your movie. These are called film markets. They happen a few times around the world and they bring distributors and buyers together to find out what films are available.

Now there are a few things YOU can do right now to make your film more attractive to potential buyers.

1. Create a one sheet

A One Sheet is just like what is sounds like. It's a single page. On the font of the page is your Key Art or Poster. On the back of the page is the synopsis, a few frames of the film and any specs such as the length, genre, and language. You can also add in ratings, and marketing information such as notable cast or crew.

2. Make A Trailer

If the potential buyer likes your one sheet they are going to ask to see a trailer. Your trailer only has seconds to capture their attention. So make sure you grab their attention FAST. Get to the plot quickly and avoid spending the first several seconds showing off the fancy logo for your production company.

3. Have screeners available.
After the buyer has seen the trailer and one sheet the final hurtle will be the screener. Sometimes a buyer will even make an offer on a film without seeing the screener if the trailer really grabs them. But most of the time, they will want to see the film before making an offer. Make sure you have the film ready in a variety of formats including DVD, Blu Ray and online screener. Have copies with you to hand to the buyer. And PLEASE don't be so green to ask them to sign an NDA when they receive a screener. The buyers have no incentive to steal your film and asking makes you look...dumb.

4. Finally, get to the markets.
No one knows your film exists until you show it to them. So get to the markets. Now that can mean you go personally or you send it with a representative. That can be a sales rep or a film distributor. But get it to the markets. There are several markets around the world and they can get expensive so make sure you account for those costs when planning on selling your film. If you don't have money to travel, I strongly recommend the sales rep or distributor route.

Now you can always self distribute your film. I will be talking about a few ways to do that in the next few days. But if you found this information helpful then please share this video with a friend you think could benefit from it as well. I'll see you again soon. Take care.
