How to Shoot Multiple Targets | Rhythm Drill | Tactical Rifleman
ChannelTactical RiflemanDescription from the creator
WHY DO I NEED THIS?
If I have made a decision to engage and my mind has processed that there are multiple targets/threats that are feasible to engage from the position I’m in, it’s reasonable to believe that I would want to be efficient (helps with speed) as I do that.
Minimizing the time that it takes to shift from one target/threat to another will help to create that efficiency we want.
A few points that must be understood are these; Your eyes are the key to processing information fast. They must move before the sights and gun even though it seems to happen almost simultaneously in many cases.
If you find yourself “riding” the sights as you shift, slow down and begin to manually tell yourself, “EYES THEN SIGHTS”, as you perform.
Another tip to become efficient at this type of drill is to use your hips and legs to shift your weight and gun instead of just swinging your upper body. This adds control to your speed.
Lastly, if there is a spread between two targets of a distance that requires you to approximately turn all the way to your left or right (extreme shift), consider compressing the gun in to your chest as you shift and then extending toward the threat/target as you bring the sights in front of your eyes aligned on the second target.
Bottom line: GO FAST WHERE YOU CAN AND SLOW DOWN WHERE YOU HAVE TO.
Moving your eyes, body, and gun quickly to align with the threat/target does not usually have a negative effect on your marksmanship. Just make sure you don’t disrupt the sight alignment and picture while you press that little trigger thingy.
This drill can be performed for dry fire time while at home during your social distancing.
Focus on the moving of the eyes first, shifting the hips and weight from leg to leg, and compressing the gun as you make more extreme shifts (eg. 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock shift).
For the eyes, just be sure you see a good ACCEPTABLE sight picture within the desired rhythm!
Have fun, stay healthy!!!!
