[Synopsis]

This video shows you how to install and run a Higan emulator for the NES on a Linux operating system. The Higan emulator is a multi platform emulator, so you can run other video game consoles on it as well, like the Super Famicom(Super Nintendo), NEC PC-Engine, Sega Mega Drive(Sega Genesis), etc. I tried to run it for the Super Famicon, but my computer didn't enough have enough horsepower to run it without getting performance issues.

As for sharing files across platforms, the best way to do it is by using a NAS(Network Attached Storage) unit, because it allows you to share files across different platforms(Windows, Linux, and MacOS). The next best way to transfer ROM files from a Microsoft Windows based computer would be to use a USB flash drive formated in NTFS instead of FAT32. FAT32 is not recognized in Linux distros while NTFS is recognized in Windows and Linux distros. Not only that, NTFS allows you to store files that are 4 Gigabytes or larger.
