Initial D’s main character, Takumi Fujiwara, is a great driver and an excellent drifter. He learned all he knows from years of hands-on experience with Bunta. Legend has it that the anime is based on real facts, and the man behind this intriguing story of success on the streets and on the racetrack has been crowned the Drift King.
All I know is that Takumi drifts an AE86 Sprinter Trueno GT APEX to its limits (his and the car’s limits). In this video, we uncover how this legendary figure drifts his little Toyota to winning battles, using his techniques of brake drifting, rev-matching, and engine braking.
This is certainly a folk to admire, but his techniques will teach us a lot about car control as well as self-confidence behind the steering wheel.
