How to get your car back in GTA 5 story mode - impound garage

If you've lost your car in GTA V story mode, then you should be able to get it back unless it's been destroyed in gameplay, subject to the following:
- If it's a main character's default car, then it will get returned to their safehouse no matter what
- If it's a car you've bought or have customised/modified, then it will be in the Impound Garage as shown in the video and costs $250 to be released (you can't steal it back). This applies if you've left it by the roadside or start a mission, but to repeat if it's destroyed it's gone. The only way to get it back is to restore it from an earlier save point, losing your progress from that point.
- Only two cars can be stored in the impound garage.
- If you're playing GTA 5 Online, you can insure your cars
