How to Win in Pokemon TCG Online - Tips & Stratagy
ChannelHow 2 GamingDescription from the creator
In this video I'm going to be presenting some tips and tactics on how to win games in Pokémon TCG Online. Ultimately this video has to be prefaced with the fact that some decks are superior to others, but what I what to do is talk about some general strategies that will get you winning games. That being said let's move on to my tip...
Risk Identification.
Being able to identify which of your opponents cards pose the highest risk to your own Pokémon is very important when playing Pokémon TCG Online. In many cases your opponents may send out active Pokémon that are not meant to attack you, but to rather stall for time as they set up some card combination or power up a benched Pokémon. Being able to understand that delaying tactic and set yourself up appropriately is the first step to success. The second, is by running a card that is featured in almost every competitive deck in Pokémon TCG online. That card is named Lycandre, and it is a supporter card that enables to chose your opponents active Pokémon an drag them into the active position. Effective use of Lysandre,a swell as similar cards such as Pokémon Catcher can help you respond to threats of your opponent on the beck bench.
Bench Preparation
In Pokémon TCG online you should always be looking one or two turns ahead. In this instance, you should ask yourself, what strategy do I have if my active Pokémon gets knocked out? This is why setting up a back bench of Pokémon is so important. Being able to implement contingency strategies is very important to the game, and setting up an effective backbench of cards at the risk of losing a bit of damage potential this turn is usually worth it.
Item / Energy distribution
Item cards and energy cards generally should not be on cards if they do not require it in the immediate sense. What I mean is that generally is you have in item card in your hand, say a muscle band for example, the risk of putting that card down only to have it wiped away by cards like startling megaphone before it could be used should be avoided.
This is similar to energies, spreading energies across various Pokémon enables you to have more versatility in game. I usually like to have mu Pokémon one energy away from using the attack that I really want them to use. This usually gives me time to power up other Pokémon, and reduces the damage that the loss of that Pokémon would be if it dragged out and knocked out because of as card like Lycandre. Cards with many energies on them, or weak supporting in ex cards are generally known as 'lysandre bait' and, this tip is essentially akin to the saying "don't put all your eggs into one basket"
Know your deck
It is important that you know the deck your playing well. This comes down not only to think of what cards you can play, but also the odds of drawing cards you need. Basic calculation of odds of drawing cards is so important in Pokémon TCG Online. With cards like Professor Sycamore and Professor Birch being so popular, it's very important that you know your deck well and understand the odds of drawing a card you need, at least a the basic level.
