Adding an external link to your WordPress menu is an excellent way to drive traffic to an external project. It can also be more effective for promoting social media profiles than simply adding an icon to your header.

The external link option is available in both the Menus page in the WP admin menu as well as the Live Customizer. In general, I recommend you use the Customizer for all site customizations since you can watch your updates take place live and this will save you time.
