How To Be Less Talkative | CHATTERBOX PSYCHOLOGY
ChannelDanica WalkerDescription from the creator
HOW TO BE LESS TALKATIVE | CHATTERBOX PSYCHOLOGY \ In this video I share effective ways for how to be less talkative. First I delve into the psychology of why you are a chatterbox, and then I share my top 3 ways for how to talk less when you're with friends or meeting strangers.
Reason why you talk too much, I find people who can't stop talking are either ONE of two types of people: people struggling with anxiety and issues of being overly nervous. OR people who have self-esteem complexes. Often these types of people brag a lot, or overexaggerate stories, and quickly turn the topic of the conversation back to the subject of them.
Now, I don't want you to feel bad if you feel like you are ANY of these two types of people. It happens, maybe you had a shitty childhood and your parents never gave you authentic attention, or maybe you're just more genetically prone to being anxious. The majority of people have some level of these type of disorders.
The best way to remedy BOTH of these issues (being overly anxious or having a low self-esteem) is to work on your confidence and work on being alone with your thoughts in solitude.
You NEED to be alone WITHOUT your phone, and being distracted. You NEED to learn to deal with your negative thoughts and emotions. There are countless methods and ways to handle negative emotions in a healthy way. There's journaling, there's meditation, there's what's called "shadow work" these are techniques for how to deal with the dark aspects of your psyche. There is the Katie Bryron technique for how to deal with limited or negative beliefs about yourself and your life. It doesn't really matter what method you, what matters is you find one that works for you and you can be consistent about it. Work on that aspect of yourself everyday. It's the EVERYDAY part that's important. Personally, I prefer meditation. Just sitting down, in silence with NOTHING but my mind. Letting my thoughts flow, observing them, questioning whether my thoughts and beliefs are true. Observing my thought patterns.
Next is your confidence. The BEST ways to BOOST your confidence is to invest in your health and your skills. Have a strong body. Work out, sleep well, eat well. You will automatically FEEL GOOD. You will have more energy and motivation. Then work on your craft. There is something you're good at, WORK on it. Master your craft, develop yourself. Push yourself, you will get stronger. Challenge yourself, embrace what's hard. The more you embrace what's hard in order to grow the easier your life will get.
