Title 1 Chapter 25 of Wyoming law allows a resident to change their name after marriage, after divorce, or for personal reasons. The process begins with the filing of a name change petition to the state through one of its county court clerk offices.

Download the Name Change Petition & Notice of Publication. Completely fill in these 2 forms and have them notarized. You can find a notary at every branch bank in the United States.

File your forms. You will need to file your forms with the county court clerk's office where you reside and pay the filing fee.
To find a court near you, use this directory.

Publish the change in the newspaper. You will need to submit your 'Notice of Publication' to a newspaper that circulates within your county. Usually the clerk can guide you to the best newspaper. The ad must run once a week for four consecutive weeks. After successful publication, the newspaper will provide you with an 'Affidavit of Publication' which proves to the court you made public notice.

Submit the forms. You will need to complete the Motion Requesting Name Change Order and Order for Name Change. If no one has made a claim against your new name you will be able to file these forms and receive your new name change decree in the mail.
You may use your name change decree to change your name at any public or private establishment.
