How to Customize Rugs with Paint

MR. KATE: So patterned rugs can be pricey, pricier than plain colored rugs. So a more inexpensive solution is to get a plain colored rug and then create your own pattern, which is exactly what I'm going to do with this. This is an inexpensive rug, but it still has nice quality, soft, it's a natural fiber, and I'm gonna use latex paint to create my pattern. This is going in a little girl's room, so I'm gonna do a hopscotch pattern.

I'm gonna use a pencil and a measuring tape to map out my design. And I've already kind of started here because know I want to do one -- two -- three, four, five -- six hopscotch squares. So, I've got the lines of my squares done here. I want this to look like chalk so I'm just gonna use this little brush and do free-hand strokes.

Perfect, I'm done! So you see it's super simple, super easy, and you can do whatever you want to fit in with your design. I love it! One, two, three -- four, five, six.
