The Drop In feature on Amazon Alexa devices lets you drop in on other Alexa devices, either your devices or your friends devices, at any time. While this can be convenient, it can also become a bit creepy. Thankfully, Amazon makes it possible to turn off the Alexa Drop In feature on a specific device, or to disable a specific contact's ability to drop in on your Alexa devices. In this video, I'll walk through both options in the Alexa app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

First let's walk through how to disable the Alexa Drop In feature on a specific device using the Alexa app for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

Step 1. Tap to launch the Alexa a pp on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Your Alexa home screen appears.

Step 2. Tap the "Menu" icon in the upper left corner of the screen. A menu flies in from the left side of the screen.

Step 3. Tap "Settings" in the menu. The Settings screen appears.

Step 4. Tap "Device Settings" in the Settings menu. A list of your Alexa devices appears.

Step 5. Tap the Alexa device you want to disable the Drop In feature for. The settings screen for that specific device appears.

Step 6. Scroll down to the General section, and then tap "Communications." The Communications screen appears.

Step 7. Tap "Drop In" on the Communications screen. The Drop In screen appears.

Step 8. Tap "Off" in the Drop In screen to place a check mark to the right of Off. The Alexa Drop In feature is now turned off on this device. Repeat this process for any other Alexa devices you want to disable the Drop In feature for.

Now let's look at how to turn off the Alexa Drop In feature for a specific contact.

Step 1. Tap to launch the Alexa app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Your Alexa home screen appears.

Step 2. Tap the "Menu" icon in the upper left corner of the screen. A menu flies in from the left side of the screen.

Step 3. Tap "Contacts" in the menu. The Contacts screen opens.

Step 4. Tap the name of the contact you want to disable Alexa Drop In for. An information screen for that contact appears.

Step 5. Locate Allow Drop In in the Permissions section, and then tap the toggle to the right of "Allow Drop In" to turn it off. The Alexa Drop In feature is now disabled for that contact.
