How to FIX an UGLY LAWN with AERATION and OVERSEED

How to fix an ugly lawn with aeration and overseeding. We are going to MAKE the LAWN GREEN AGAIN! Two things you can almost always count on in the fall in the RVA, is aeration and overseed. Core aeration is when cores of soil are taken from the ground and left on the surface of the turf. If left, they breakdown, essentially topdressing the lawn. Fall aeration is popular because temps are coming down, and the lawn has just finished taking a beating from the summer heat. Lawn aeration opens things up, allowing for water, air, and other nutrients to penetrate into the deeper soil levels FAST! Overseeding is popular at the same time, because seed can get into those holes as well, basically guaranteeing seed to soil contact. The seed that doesn’t fall in the holes gets top dressed by the cores left on top, it just works out that way!

I also did liquid aeration. Liquid aeration has the same benefits of core aeration, except the top dressing, and without removing soil. It’s a great season round addition to any lawn plan!
