Description from the creator

It can be embarrassing when you hit your brakes and they make a loud shrill squeal. There are multiple possible causes for the noisy screeching brakes. I go through the various steps to fix the brakes so they will be quiet.

* I am often asked, why didn't I just skip all the earlier steps and go right to end and replace the pads. Because often, one of those earlier steps will solve the problem. (Read through the comments where the earlier steps worked) In this case they didn't. And in this case, if one of those earlier steps had actually solved the problem, then it would have made a terrible video. Because if there are bunch of problem solving steps to go through, and I only show the first few, then that would help some people, but most people would have been left hanging. Why replace your pads if simply cleaning them would have fixed the noise? But if you want to skip to the last step, go ahead. It's your money to waste. And what do you do if the pads are new and squeal?

The repair stand I am using is a Park Tool PCS-10:
