How to Keep a Pet Bird or Other Animals when You Have Cats

► It's possible to keep other animals when you own a crazy cat who likes to hunt birds for food. When cats are raised alongside birds, chickens, rats..whichever animal; they develop a relationship with the other animal. Like, "I won't hurt you." Over time, it just doesn't fit into their brain cycle. Silly as it sounds, in one case, two kittens were raised with three chickens. One year later, the two adult cats were frightened of the small chickens! It might have been due to the fact that the kittens had never seen anything so weird-looking in their life✔

► Tips
Have treats nearby for good behavior.
Play with the two together. Let them crawl on you...etc.
Show the same amount of attention to each animal.
Try capping your cat's claws with store-bought plastic caps to reduce the incidence of injury while playing. Not all cats will let you do this.
If a bird is even scratched by a cat, it can die because cat's claws have bacteria toxic to birds. Even if your cat is just playing and scratches your bird, it could still pass away✔

► Warnings
Never leave a cat of any age alone with another animal that may be its natural prey (e.g.: rodents, rabbits, birds, lizards). Cats still have strong hunting instincts that can be triggered while you are out of the room. Also, be aware that your cat may be injured in the process, especially by rats.
This procedure is recommended only for interaction between two juvenile animals. Whereas, the adult cat takes a much longer time to go through the introductions. Cooperation may not occur at all.
Bacteria occurs in cat saliva which can be harmful and infectious to animals, including humans, bitten by a cat. If a bite occurs, it is recommended that the individual receives immediate medical attention, especially those you suspect to have a weaker immune system✔
