Description from the creator

Hi Everyone!
Today, I made fried apples. I was asked to make them baked like Cracker Barrell but the secret is, you don't bake them! LOL Here is the version I use when making fried apples, aka baked apples. My family can't tell the difference.

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups apple juice (reserve 1/2 cup)
4 large apples, Golden Delicious work best (wash, core and cut in 1/2 inch wedges, leaving the peelings on)
3 Tbsp Cornstarch
1 tsp Apple Pie Spice (or substitute with 1/2 tsp Allspice & 1/2 tsp Cinnamon)
4 Tbsp Sugar

Directions:

Wash, core and cut apple wedges in 1/2 inch wedges., leaving the peelings on. Place cut apples and 2 cups of apple juice into a medium sized skillet. Simmer gently and turn apples frequently until the apples are tender. Use a fork to test tenderness. You don't want them to be mushy. Once tender, you want to remove the apples from the skillet and place in an oven safe dish. Use a slotted spoon if you have one. You want the juice to remain in the skillet.
In a blender, combine the reserved 1/2 cup apple juice, cornstarch, apple pie spice and sugar. Blend until smooth. This should only take a few seconds. Pour & whisk mixture into the hot apple juice that is still in the skillet and cook. Set your temperature on medium high heat until it bubbles and becomes thickened and smooth. Pour this mixture over your cooked apples and serve. You may cover and store in the oven on a low temperature to keep warm until you are ready to eat.

Enjoy!

Love you all! Sandy
