Description from the creator

Google Chrome Handlers:
Make Gmail Default Email Program when clicking on 'mailto' links

Mailto Links: URLs that open email messages (common when you see 'Contact Us' or 'Email Support' etc).

Have you ever clicked on a link on a website that says ‘Contact Us’ and Apple Mail or Outlook starts to open, but you would rather have the email message open up in Gmail?

This tutorial will show you how to make Gmail the default when you click on ‘Contact’ or ‘Email’ links in Chrome by enabling 'Handlers' in Google Chrome Settings.

The easy shortcut to jump right to handlers in Chrome (not covered in video). Simply copy and paste this in the address bar: chrome://settings/handlers

Google Chrome Settings (3 Different Ways to Access Handlers):
1. Look for 3 little dots in upper right (vertically aligned)
2. Click on Chrome, then Preferences from the Menu Bar
3. Google Chrome Settings Shortcut:
1. Copy & Paste this link in Chrome to jump right to Handlers: chrome://settings/handlers

The Steps:
Step 1: Turn on Handlers in Chrome Settings (chrome://settings/handlers)
Step 2: Log in to Gmail in Chrome
Step 3: Click on Handlers Protocol in address box (looks like 2 diamonds)
Step 4: Select Allow to make Gmail Default Email Handler

To Undo/Revert:
1. Go Chrome Handler Settings (chrome://settings/handlers)
2. Click on 3 dots next to Gmail and click Remove

Now, whenever you click on a ‘mailto:’ link, Gmail will open instead of Apple Mail or Outlook.
