How to make pot roast in the oven. Pot roast is such a foolproof recipe if you take it slow and easy. You can transform a tough and cheap cut of beef like chuck into a tender, flavorful meal. To follow along with the pot roast recipe, you'll need the following:

2-4 pound chuck steak for roasting
1 onion
3 carrots
3 stalks of celery
5 tablespoons flour
2-3 small potatoes
2-4 cups chicken stock or beef stock or vegetable stock
