How To Make Your Bedroom Look More Expensive

In this short video I am going to share with you 3 tips on how to make your bedroom look more expensive. These small changes can have a big impact. I call it more splash than cash!

Tip #1) Mix it up – and when I say mix it up I mean don’t buy the matching bedroom set.
Many stores sell matching bedroom room sets which include a bed with matching nightstands and a dresser. People buy these sets because it makes shopping easy. However, the downside of buying a matching set is that your bedroom can look generic and lack personality. Maybe you have a matching bedroom set right now and want to achieve a custom look in your home. The good news is that you don't have to start from scratch! Start by switching out part of your set. If you love your bed and dresser, keep them and add new nightstands to coordinate.


Tip #2) Layer your bedding and mash it up
Don’t settle for a bed in bad - Give your bed a luxurious look by layering up textured bedspreads, decorative pillows and blankets. Add a mix of materials to provide rich interest, but stick to one or two shades to prevent it looking messy. The beauty of this idea is its versatility, as you can layer thicker fabrics in the winter and swap them for lighter cottons in the summer.


Tip # 3) Hang wallpaper behind the bed
A feature wall of patterned wallpaper behind your bed is a great way to add a designer touch and to make a statement. By only papering one wall you’ll also cut down costs, which will allow you to choose a slightly more luxurious wallpaper. For this feature wall I used a grass cloth wallpaper and had the paper cut into 18 x 18 inch squares. I then had my wallpaper guy hang them in 2 different directions to create this interesting cross-hatch pattern. It really makes this wall a stand-out!
