How to measure square footage - new flooring

This video demonstrates how to measure square footage. This how to video is an easy DIY project in order to find the square footage you need for new flooring. Finding the square footage of an area, not just flooring, is simple.

How to calculate square footage (for new flooring or any area):

(L x W)
1. It doesn't matter which is L and which is W as long as they are perpendicular to each other
2. Identify what you are measuring in (like inches)
3. Identify what measurement you want to get to (like feet)
4. Apply the appropriate math. If measuring in inches and wanting to get to feet, divide the inches by 12 that is now the feet value
5. Multiply L x W
6. That is your value of your square footage
