Description from the creator

Whether you are starting a podcast for the first time or you're a seasoned podcaster who knows how to get music for their podcast, this tutorial will help regardless. How to pick music for a podcast can actually be pretty labor intensive if you aren't smart about looking for the right music.

Today I talk about the process I go through when I pick music for my podcast. I will share with you the two places I grab my music and how I use the music for my podcast.

In this tutorial I'll talk about two services where you can get your music:

1) YouTube Audio Library
2) AudioJungle.net

Whether you are brand new to podcasting or are looking for new music for a new segment on your podcast, searching for the right music might take a while. In some cases, you'll be able to find the right music for your podcast within a few minutes while other times you'll want to explore different styles to see if one piece of music will match the theme of your podcast segment or intro.

I will walk you through YouTube's audio library and discuss with you on how to pick music and whether the music you choose is good enough to use for your podcast. In most cases it will be OK, but there will be specific times in which you may need to give credit to the creator in your podcast show notes.

If you plan on monetizing your podcast and are using music that is tagged for Creative Commons usage, that piece of work will need to be given credit. As you see in the video, I share different types of music that can be used if you're pulling from the YouTube repository.

The other place I like to get my music is from Audiojungle. There are many repositories that have music you can use, but I use AudioJungle because they have terminology that is used in the radio industry that helps me find certain sounds for my program.

First, I will walk you though the process of picking music and show you how I pick the top 5 songs and place them in a collection on Audiojungle. Then I will show you how to download a watermarked version of the audio file to test in your new podcast. Watermarked versions give the podcasters the ability to see how a piece of music will work for the final podcast.

Lastly, I will talk about a concept/sound that I utilize at the beginning of my new podcasts each time. These are branding sounds called "Logos".

Logo sounds are similar to the opening splash screen when you watch a Netflix program. As I describe in this video, the splash screen has a "opening logo" sound along with the "N" that is shown on the screen for Netflix. You can do the same thing for your podcast if you're creating podcasts under a "company" or entity. I've learned that having these types of logos really show authority when you hear them at the beginning of the podcast.

In the next video after this one, I will show you how to pick certain logos to help you save money that you don't need to spend when it comes to using music for your podcast.
