How to reset Linksys router

Press and hold the reset button on the Linksys router for 10 to 15 seconds. The power light will start blinking on the router.


Release the reset button and wait for 15 seconds.
Now unplug the power cable to the router. Wait for 15 seconds.
Now plugin the power cable back to the router. Wait for 30 seconds.
The power light will stop blinking on Linksys router.
This is how you can reset linksys router.


If the power light keeps on blinking then the router might not be in a good condition.
Try to reset it again. Press and hold the reset button hard for 30 seconds this time and repeat the process.

In case of Linksys WRT54GC, the reset button is at the bottom where you will find a small flap that you need to open to reset Linksys router WRT54GC.

On new Linksys E-series models like E4200, E1200, E3200, the reset button is on the flip side of the router.


Remember, once you reset Linksys router, it will come back to factory default settings and you will need to reconfigure it from the scratch.
So do not reset the router if not necessary.
