Description from the creator

Shorting stocks is a bearish trading strategy used by traders who want to bet against a certain company or investment product.

In this video, I give step-by-step instructions on how to short stocks.

More specifically, I explain:

1) What exactly is shorting stocks and how does the process generally work?
2) Why you need a margin account for short selling
3) What are the bid and ask prices?
4) What does it mean when a stock is "hard-to-borrow" and what are the fees associated with shorting hard-to-borrow stocks?
5) Shorting a share of IWM with a limit order

Generally speaking, I do not recommend shorting stocks as it requires a significant amount of capital to enter trades and the risk of loss is immense. But for educational purposes, it is good to know about shorting stocks as it is a common way to hedge a portfolio of other long equities.

I hope this quick video helps you understand shorting stocks! Please leave a comment below this video if you have any questions.
