How to Submit a Sitemap to Google Search Console (2020)

🚨 UPDATED 2023 VIDEO TUTORIAL: youtu.be/_t0DKOypLio

Wondering how to create and submit a sitemap to Google to help improve your SEO? That's what I'm diving into in this tutorial.

Whether you're creating a sitemap and adding it for the very first time, or if you'd like to submit an updated sitemap, this tutorial walks you through the step-by-step process.

Google Search Console: search.google.com/search-console/

Most Common Sitemap URLs:
WordPress (using Yoast): www.yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml
Squarespace: www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml
Shopify: www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml
Showit: www.yourdomain.com/siteinfo.xml

What is a sitemap?
A sitemap tells Google which pages and files you think are important in your site, and also provides valuable information about these files: for example, for pages, when the page was last updated, how often the page is changed, and any alternate language versions of a page.
