Video Transcript:
With an update rolled out in early 2019, Facebook is making it possible to unsend Facebook Messenger messages. This unsend feature makes it possible to recall sent Facebook Messenger messages where you sent across incorrect information, or maybe that you sent in the heat of the moment that you regret. The biggest catch associated with the feature is that you can only unsend a message for up to 10 minutes after it was sent. Additionally, everyone in a Facebook Messenger chat where a message has been recalled will see a placeholder message that says a message has been removed and who removed it. In this video I'll show you how to unsend a Facebook Messenger message in both the Facebook Messenger app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, and also on Messenger.com.

First, let's walk through the steps to unsend a Facebook Messenger message in the Facebook Messenger app on iPhone, iPad, or Android.

Step 1. Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device, and then navigate to the conversation in the Facebook Messenger app that contains the message you want to unsend. Remember, you can only unsend a message if it's been sent within the last 10 minutes.

Step 2. Hold a finger against the message to bring up an onscreen menu.

Step 3. Tap "Remove" in the row of options that appears directly above the keyoard on the lower part of the screen. A menu flies up from the bottom of the screen asking who you want to remove this message for.

Step 4. Choose "Remove for Everyone." A Remove for Everyone dialog box appears, informing you that this message will be removed for all chat members. However, they will still see a message that says you removed a message. I won't be discussing the Remove for You option in this video, as that just deletes a specific message for you and not everyone else.

Step 5. Tap "Remove" in the dialog box. You'll return to your Facebook Messenger conversation, where you'll see a placeholder that says you removed a message; all other participants in the chat will see a similar message. You have successfully managed to unsend your Facebook Messenger message.

Next, let's walk through the steps to unsend a Facebook Messenger message on Messenger.com.

Step 1. Open a web browser and navigate to Messenger.com, and then navigate to the conversation that contains the message you want to unsend. Remember, you can only unsend a Facebook Messenger message if it's been sent within the last 10 minutes.

Step 2. Hold your cursor over the message you want to unsend. A gray ellipses and smiley face icon appear to the left of that message.

Step 3. Click the ellipses to display a menu. Click "Remove" in the menu. A dialog box appears in the center of your screen and asks who you want to remove the message for. The text beneath the Remove for Everyone option states that selecting that option will remove this message for all chat members. However, they will still see a message that says you removed a message. I won't be discussing the Remove for You option in this video, as that just deletes a specific message for you and not everyone else.

Step 4. Click "Remove for Everyone." You'll return to your Facebook Messenger conversation, where you'll see a placeholder that says you removed a message; all other participants in the chat will see a similar message.
