Description from the creator

This video will teach you how to fakie bigspin in no time from your position of view!

The fakie bigspin is the very first trick in a fakie stance that I’m teaching you on my channel. I’m not going to upload every single trick in every single stance but for bigspins there is a really clear difference in difficulty and technique for this trick. And you know… for some tricks they’re easier fakie but for bigspins that’s definitely the case so that’s why I’m uploading the fakie one earlier on!

For the fakie bigspin you firstly wanna make sure that you’re comfortable on a skateboard.
Tricks I recommend learning before learning this one is the Ollie, The pop shove-it and The backside 180. I’ve got tutorials for all three of those if you’re not able to do ‘em yet!

Let’s get in to the foot-positioning. Place your front foot underneath the bolts with an angle. Place it more backwards so your heel is off of your board. Place it like I’m doing right here.

Your backfoot is gonna be on your tail. Place it a little bit more forward on your tail so can get that scooping movement easier. Kinda like you place it for a pop shove-it.

The foot positioning for the fakie bigspin isn’t too important since I’m not popping. If you do wanna pop your fakie bigspins you might wanna adjust your foot positioning a little but as I always tell you guys anyways: play around with your foot-positioning so it feels more comfortable for you. I don’t think fakie bigspins need to be popped necessarily, it’s a fakie trick so it won’t look that steezy anyways and the step to start popping these is very small. For regular bigspins tho, pop ‘em!

Now let’s take a look at the movement.
Step 1: Turn your upper body. When riding fakie get ready to do the trick by turning your upper body first. Bend your knees while doing this so you can jump when you scoop your board. It’s probably the first time you’re doing a scoop and a body variation at the same time so you might have to get used to this a little in the beginning.
Step 2: Jump and scoop. Since I’m teaching you without popping you just have to jump and scoop. Scooping your board is kinda easy, it’s the exact same movement as a fakie shove-it. You only have to put a more effort into it and turn your body with it aswell.
Step 3: stay above your board and land. After you jumped you wanna stay above it. The best way to describe the feeling of being in control of your board is: “keep your board underneath you”. After the rotation, land back on it and keep your balance!

There are two very common mistakes with this trick. The first one is not getting enough rotation which leads you to get stuck and fall forward. This does mean you’re close to landing the trick, you just need to put more effort into the rotation part of this trick, turn your shoulders more and scoop your board harder.

The second common mistake is when you’re not landing back on your board with both of your feet and your board isn’t really underneath you. To fix this you wanna lean forward a bit more and really try to stay in control of your board. Don’t be scared to land the trick and try to commit a full 100% to landing back on it with both of your feet.

Don’t care about slipping out and falling cause this is skateboarding and that’s what progression looks like. If you slip out after landing on your board with both of your feet it just means your getting closer to landing your fakie bigspins.

I’m sure you can do it. Be patient. Work hard. Show some perseverance and you’ll get it!

Sharing my videos is highly appreciated! Thanks for watching. The point of these videos is that it’s made from your point of view. This helps you to visualize yourself doing the trick and it’s really crazy but there’s actual scientific proof that this works almost as good as actually practicing the trick. Besides that, there are already a ton of regular tutorials out there so I’m sure these different ones will help you out.
Subscribe for more upcoming tutorials and regular skate videos. Peace out, skate-on, learn your tricks, land ‘em, go out there and skate!
