Description from the creator

How to compose a song on the piano:
1. Choose a scale (major? minor? blues scale? pentatonic scale? etc.) All songs are made up of notes that come from a scale.
2. Set the tone - the first and last note in a song generally come out of the dominant chord, so a song in A minor will start and end with notes in the Am chord.
3. Play around with notes in the scale and different rhythm patterns - if you have trouble getting started, you can just choose random notes out of your scale - the scale will hold it all together and make it sound like a song, or look at chord families, just play around!
4. Use repeating patterns - if you find a phrase you like, repeat it. Music loves patterns.
5. Add accompaniment - see my chords vid - youtube.com/watch?v=H0eh3JGXDuY
6. End the song where you started - on the dominant chord. Most songs follow the pattern of starting at home base, going on a journey, and then coming back to home base.
