Today we will be re-visiting a concept that will help you write great guitar solos.

The formula is L.O.V.E

L: lyrical

O: obvious

V: visual

E: expandable

First, listen to the backing track without the guitar and create a lyric. Next, (the obvious part) is about that thing you would hum in the shower. At this point, you will have a memorable musical phrase.

Now we will grab the guitar for the "visual" part. Here, you will map out the phrase to the guitar fretboard. Lastly, the expandable part comes when you grow your initial idea into new phrases.
