Description from the creator

UPDATE 6/19/20: Please see an updated version of this tutorial at youtu.be/FWIBeTFXqGY

UPDATE 1/15/20: With the firmware 1.10 update, Roland has added parameters for lower/upper arp key ranges that allow Parts to perform more independently of each other and get more predictable results, a big improvement. The workaround here can still be used, but isn’t necessary. Leaving it up more as a demonstration of the menus and sounds.

The Roland Jupiter-Xm I-Arp feature is a real-time phrase generator that elegantly handles all 5 Parts of an Xm Scene and transforms live play into complex accompaniment. But its "global" approach to the keyboard sometimes makes simpler tasks harder to accomplish. In this tutorial, I'll show you how the I-Arp settings of one Part in a split (the Upper lead/pad) might interfere with another (the Lower bass part). Then I demonstrate the changes needed to get more predictable results for a transposable single-finger bass track, independent of what you're doing in the upper keys. Once you know these settings, you can experiment by adding more Parts to beef up the results. Techniques here should match the Jupiter-X when it's released in 2020.

My thanks to Eric Thunfors, Sunshine Jones and Gattobus for helping to light the way on this mystery!
