1. Remember that faculty understand this process and know that you need to ask for letters. They know the game! They've already played

2. Always ask in person, never email!!

3. Make sure you specifically ask for a STRONG letter. This gives them an easy out if they don't feel comfortable writing your letter and also makes sure they know you need/want a strong letter. A neutral letter doesn't help you here. You need solid, well written letters to help rock residency interviews.
