How to buy a second hand car in the Philippines! VLOG!


We all dream of having our own car but don't want to buy a new one bacause we are afraid of commitment in paying monthly payments, or scared of depreciation......

So how do you check a pre-owned car?

WHAT WILL YOU NEED BEFORE VIEWING/BUYING A CAR?

1.Blank deed of sale & blank bond paper ( we recommend having this as precautionary only) most sellers do not prepare one for you) the blank bond paper is for his 3 specimen signature ( this is to make things easier for you when you don't have xerox for his I.D. You will just need to take a picture of it then print it in the bond paper with specimen signature.

2.Mechanic (Optional but recommended)

3.Scanning tool (Optional but in late 90's and up cars is really recommmended)

4.Contact persons incase of emergency (Towing companies, Friends, on call mechanics)


WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW WHEN LOOKING AT THE CAR?

1. Overall Condition (Exterior,Interior, Engine) - look at all issues, check engine&chassis number if it matches what's on the paper and determine if it is the car for you.

*NOTE -If your okay with the overall condition proceed to ask #2 but if you're not really interested with the car try to politely say and walk away. No need to waste both of your time.

2.History (maintenance, recent and past accidents, etc)

3.Documents (Is it registered, is it complete, etc) *NOTE this is one of the most important element in buying a second hand car, A car with no documents even new has little to no value.

HOW TO VERIFY A CAR's DOCUMENTS IF IT IS AUTHENTIC?

There are ways to do it but thing is here in philippines it is very tricky and there are alot of sketchy sellers, selling fake documents. (will do a vlog about this soon)

1. Use SMS Verification
txt LTO(space) VEHICLE(space) PLATE#
to 2600

(you will onlyy get a reply on the details of the car) *does not let you know authenticity of the papers



2.Go to the LTO that the car is registered or born in. we call that (Mother File) then give them a copy of the o.r, c.r of the car you are trying to buy.
*NOTE this is the safest yet more HASSLE (MOST RECOMMENDED)

3.HPG&PNP clearance is another way to know if the car has no records and history of accidents and carnap, this is a bit hassle cause like #2 you need to go there.


There are alot of things to consider before buying a second hand car but the important thing is that you are ready to own one, maintain one and love it like a child with or without problems. :) that's all for now.
