Description from the creator

Are your TPO antibodies or thyroperoxidase antibodies elevated? If so, you may be suffering from a condition known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Not every cause of elevated TPO antibodies indicates Hashimoto's, but if you also have symptoms of hypothyroidism then there is a good chance you may have this condition.

One issue with TPO antibodies is that it is often missed by doctors because they may or may not order the right tests if you have or suspect thyroid disease. This has to do with the treatment approach to Hashimoto's which is described as a "wait and see" approach.

In this approach, your Doctors "wait and see" what happens to your thyroid and only treat you once you start to experience certain symptoms. As you can imagine, this approach is not ideal for those who want to be proactive about their health. With that in mind, I created this video to help give you an idea as to what you can do about your antibodies if they are elevated.

These 5 tips are the same therapies that I've used successfully in my practice to help patients lower their TPO antibodies.

1. Get on the right diet for your body.
- The foods that you eat can either promote inflammation and autoimmunity or help fight it. Diets like the AIP diet, gluten-free diet, and the paleo diet may help fight off inflammation and improve your immune system.

2. Consider using DHEA and/or Testosterone.
- We know that androgens (like DHEA and testosterone) help promote proper immune function and this is why most autoimmune diseases occur in females and not males.

3. Consider using Zinc or Selenium
- Both zinc and selenium are required for immune function and deficiencies in either can promote immune dysregulation. In addition, studies have shown that supplementing with Selenium may help reduce TPO antibodies directly because of their involvement in certain enzymes.

4. Improve gut function
- Gut dysfunction such as irritable bowel syndrome, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, dysbiosis, and other conditions which promote gut wall damage can increase your risk of developing autoimmunity.

5. Consider using Low Dose Naltrexone or LDN
- LDN stands for low dose naltrexone and is a medication which can be used off-label to help the immune response. Low doses, around 1.5 to 4.5mg, may help stimulate endorphins which help regulate the immune response.

These 5 tips are very effective at lowering antibody levels but be sure to use ALL of them at the same time for maximum benefit.
