Amaryllis make great holiday decorations and gifts. You can pick up amaryllis kits from big box stores and garden centers, but you'll have a much better selection of amaryllis if you buy bulbs separately and plant them up.

It usually takes about six to eight weeks for amaryllis to flower, so make sure to start them early. You can speed up the process but giving them some bottom heat, such as with a seed-heating mat.

Here are some of the products I used for this project. Following are Amazon affiliate links, which help support my plant habit if you purchase through them. Thank you!

Orchid pots (regular pots work fine too, but you don't want them to be too big. Usually something in the 5- to 6-inch range is good):

I used spagnum moss to line the pot, just to keep the soil from falling out the holes. This isn't necessary if you use a traditional pot without holes on the side: amzn.to/2hoGCMa

This is the seed heat mat I use for seed starting but also to get my amaryllis bulbs growing a little faster: amzn.to/2ADx8VL

And lastly, I used Happy Frog potting mix, but any good potting mix works great: amzn.to/2hpgNeQ
