How to repair & save your masonite siding

Here's another typical HandyANDY exterior project. The client here was told by several contractors that his masonite siding was defective and needed to be replaced with hardiplank. Surprisingly his siding is in great shape....with proper caulking & repaint he'll get many more years of service from it. Here, we will hand wash the exterior with a custom mix of TSP, bleach & water followed by a low pressure rinse. HandyANDY will then caulk all joints, end & nailheads with Duron Maxflex. This caulk only comes in white and is available at Sherwin Williams. We will actually recaulk over the old caulk entirely and not just spot caulk...if the old caulk fails, all the effort is wasted.

After caulking, HandyANDY will spot prime as needed, hand paint the trim and bottom edges of the siding and then spray paint the rest of the siding with Sherwin Williams Duration...the best paint in the country as far as we are concerned. We have also created our own borer bee additive to retard these little buggers. We started using it last year and now include it in all of our exterior repaints. HandyANDY then warrants against borer bee damage for 5 years. Sounds silly, but these little guys are now cycling twice a year...those "cute" little bumble bees buzzing around your home create lots of work for us.
