How to Save Money on International Flights
ChannelFamilyCheapskateDescription from the creator
Do you know how to save money on international flights?
Go on a diet before you go on Samoa Airlines. They now charge people by the kilogram.
I don't need another reason to diet before going on vacation.
Take less popular airlines which offer discounts to save money.
I remember reading about African airlines that had only one pilot, and when he was locked out of the cockpit, he had to use a hatchet to break back into the cockpit.
Weigh your suitcase. Keep your luggage below the point where they hit you with extra charges.
That's a challenge, given how much stuff I have.
You may want to send luggage there via freight before you arrive, or send collectibles home via international freight instead of paying luggage fees.
What's another option?
Red eye flights save you money. Take flights that depart in the middle of the night wherever the flight originates.
As if my sleep schedule weren't messed up enough as is.
Consider landing in the less popular cities and driving or taking a train to the popular city. Don't fly on the high volume holidays, American or in that nation.
Combining a flight with a train ride makes for a really long way.
If you want a one way trip, a round trip ticket may still be cheaper.
And it will keep me off the terrorist watch list, that no-fly list. One way tickets are a red flag to them.
Book early to lock in lower prices. Prices rise in the three weeks before the flight. Skip the flight insurance if the plane tickets are refundable.
Any other ideas?
Become a courier and get paid to take stuff on flights. Though that limits your amount of carry on, which you said was a problem for you unless you ship stuff.
Do they still kill stowaways?
No, but they find stowaways in airplane wheel wells sometimes, frozen to the gear.
Fine, I'll find a cheap airline, as long as it isn't that nude German airline. I'm self-conscious enough in a Speedo.
