How To Toast Pepitas

How to Toast Pepitas
Toasted Pepitas are insanely delicious! While filming, I had to guard these from my sisters so I would have some left for the quinoa bowls #SomeHandsMayHaveBeenSlapped This didn’t slow them down either, so you have been warned! Once you are done making these, Hide them!!
Toasting them enhances their delicious nutty flavor. They would be a great addition to any trail mix, salad, pumpkin bread or mixed in with popcorn!
Toasting pepitas is relatively simple. The two main things to pay attention to is the heat level and the time. If the temperature is too high, or if they are left on for too long, they will burn and it will ruin their flavor.
To toast pepitas
1. Heat a dry frying pan over a medium heat (Do NOT use oil or water).
2. Add pepitas, and spread into a flat layer so that they are not overlapping or stacked on top of each other.
3. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. They are done once the pepitas are lightly brown and continuously make a “popping” sound. Remove from heat immediately so they do not overcook. Transfer them to a bowl and let cool. Do not eat until the popping noise subsides.
5. Hide and enjoy ;)
