The Linux Terminal doesn’t offer any sort of visual feedback as you type in your password. This confuses and confounds new users, who are often left uncertain as to whether they’ve entered anything at all!
The good news is that it’s easy to make your Linux show password asterisks while typing in the terminal.
sudo apt update

sudo /etc/sudoers /etc/sudoers.bk

sudo nano /etc/sudoers

# visudo

Defaults env_reset,pwfeedback
or

# visudo

Defaults pwfeedback
