I recently ran into a drifting/ghost movement with the PSP's analog stick when changing the faceplate on my PSP. In my situation this was caused by the faceplate not being a perfect fit and allowing some slight flex, using this odd yet very simple method helped me calibrate the thumbstick to properly work again once I was able to tightly secure the faceplate.
