▶ About this video: This video tutorial shows you how to highlight an image in Microsoft Word. The video covers steps on how to accomplish this on MS Word 2016/2013, 2010, 2007 and 2003.

HOW THIS WORKS
The highlight tool works only when highlighting over text and not images. We can however work around this limitation by using a colored rectangular shape to highlight over images.
This involves doing the following:

✓ Insert the picture/image to highlight in your Word document
✓ Add a rectangular shape or auto-shape from the Insert menu
✓ Draw the shape to cover the area in your image that you want to highlight
✓ Right-click the shape and select Format Shape...
✓ Change the solid color into the highlight color you want
✓ Adjust the transparency level of the fill to about 50-75% so that the content below it becomes slightly visible
✓ Change the shape border to No Line
✓ Save your document and that's it!
