Polar Alignment Step-by-step: astrobackyard.com/polar-alignment/

Polar alignment is an essential part of your telescope set up process. In this video I show you how to polar align a german equatorial telescope mount (EQ) in the Northern Hemisphere.

The mount I am using for my demonstration is a Sky-watcher HEQ-5 Pro Synscan. To properly align your telescope, it is important to know your latitude coordinates on Earth so you can make the appropriate adjustments to your tracking EQ mount.

The techniques and tips I share in this video are what I use to capture DSLR astrophotography images from my backyard. For more information please visit: astrobackyard.com/
