When sending SMS through SMPP Protocol, the length of short_message is not allowed to be more than 255? So, how to send larger messages? There are 2 approaches. One is to use message_payload field of SMPP PDU, which is the focus of this lesson. The other approach is to use Concatenated SMS (CSMS), which is the focus of the next lesson.

You can learn the implementation of message_payload with both opensmpp and cloudhopper.
