How to Be Funny Without Telling Jokes

How to make people laugh without having to tell a single joke!

Know what I've always wondered?

Everyone thinks you're sooo funny, but I've never even heard you tell one joke.

You don't need jokes to be funny.

Uh wow. You seriously don't understand comedy.

Uh wow. You seriously don't understand sarcasm, wittiness and good timing.

What do you mean? I understand that stuff, but there's no punch line, there's no story.

(sarcastically) You're right, nothing without a corny punch line and background story should be funny.

Thank you. Wait, I got that. But really, how are you so funny without actually being funny?

I don't know. I just see things differently. Say someone tells you they are the best at something that they clearly aren't. You can simply say, "Sure you are, and I'm running for President." It's not feasible or realistic, so that makes it funny.

But I could be President.

(Sarcastically) Yea, and Ill be your First Lady.

Okay, that is funny.

Exactly, that's sarcasm, and knowing when to use it is key.

(Trying to force sarcasm) Yea, ha and how to use it.

We'll work on that.

Hmm... well what about wittiness? I'm witty.

(Sarcastically) And I'm a billionaire. Being witty takes a lot of effort for some people, and is really just about being on your toes.

Don't you have to be smart for that?

A lot of witty people are knowledgeable, that's true, but the wittiest people know a lot about a particular thing. Wittiness can use quotes from movies or other popular things or people.

I get it! So basically the wit is the punch line!

Not. Exactly. Say I was having a bad day and you wanted to (sarcastically) so graciously (normal) cheer me up. You could send me a picture of the popular poster of a cat hanging on a tree with the words "Hang in there kitty." It's witty and would make me laugh.

Got it.

Then you've gotta mind timing.

Right, I always do that. I think of something way after and say to myself, "I should've said that!." Ugh, gets me every time.
