Over time banks have come to realize the financial rewards of keeping their customers in the dark with regards to account policies. Fee revenue has come to outweigh the responsibility of keeping customers first. Bank employees do not feel responsible for reminding account holders of potential fees and charges that could be incurred by them if certain actions are not taken on their part. Also, many fees are not visible until the end of the month, thereby accumulating to amounts greater than expected. The expectations held to account holders to retain all policy guidelines is impractical. Banks should be more accountable by keeping customers informed in a clear and thorough manner.
